THE PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE
Hi All,
This promises to be a very exciting year for EDHAA members. We have a very capable and enthusiastic board planning the 2024 activities and events. I’m so fortunate to be working along side of them. I encourage all our members to take advantage of the opportunities available to you as members of our association.
We have a wonderful variety of talented artists scheduled to educate and entertain us at our monthly demonstrations, thanks to Linda Smith our Vice President (916) 933-2771. You won’t want to miss a meeting. Richard Gilmore works in 2D pen & ink and in 3D repurposed wood and he’s our next demonstrator (March 19th) rickprimefitness@gmail.com
Our first field trip of the year was a very successful and enjoyable plain air paint out at Town Center last week. Sorry if you missed it, however there will be many more opportunities as the weather improves. There’s always room for more! Karen Cogan (916)397-5780) our Field trip Coordinator is always open to suggestions for new destinations.
Melissa Keyzer (916) 834-6442 is doing an amazing job as our scholarship coordinator. Her selection committee met on March 1st with Folsom College art instructors to select the the winners of two scholarships: The Joey Cattone Scholarship and the EDHAA Young Artist Scholarship. The winners will receive their awards at our May 21 meeting (depending on their availability). Be sure to attend so you’ll have the opportunity to meet them!
Spike Mills is the coordinator of the Studio Tour on May 4 & 5 (1 (925) 844-4038 or spike mills!@gmail.com Our Studio Tour is quickly approaching and promises to be a huge success. (45 artists in 18 locations). All Studio Tour Artists will and any interested members are encouraged to attend the Studio Tour Preview meeting on Thursday, March 21 at 6 pm. This meeting is an opportunity to meet the other artists and to see examples of their art, but more importantly to share their tricks and strategies for having a successful tour. Every participating tour artist has the opportunity to display one or two pieces of art at Gallery 48 on April 19-June 6. I strongly encourage everyone to take advantage of this golden opportunity. I’ve made several sales over the years as a result of this additional exposure to the public.
You have 7 months to create in preparation for the Fine Arts Festival at the library. Bob Anderson is the Committee Chairman for the Fine Arts Festival on October 19. (408) 859-1788 or RNA@robertandersonart.com
We are actively pursuing a location for a Membership Show. The Harris Center rotates between El Dorado Hills & Folsom Arts Association, so this is Folsom’s year. We need to find a new spot. We can’t predict a date or time until we know where or even if we can find an affordable and accessible location. We’re open to ideas from our members.
Looking forward to a great year,
Judy
