EDHAA Presidents Message
for March 2010
Letter from the President
Hi Everyone,
I hope you have enjoyed the spring-like weather we experienced
last week. A few warm and sunny days and the leaves are budding
and daffodils and fruit trees are already blooming. I bet all you
plein air painters and photographers are anxious to get outside
to create your art after spending the winter inside. I know I always
get an extra burst of energy and inspiration when the sun shines.
We have some very exciting activities being
planned by our new board, in the coming months. Mark your calendars
and reserve the dates so you don’t miss any of them.
Judy
A.
Judy Arrigotti (President) Any EDHAA member is
welcome and encouraged to attend the next EDHAA board meeting on April
7 from 10am to 12 noon, at Raley’s Event Center.
Bill Monahan (Vice President)
has scheduled a wonderful and diverse group of demonstrators
for our enjoyment this year, so you won’t want to miss
any of the meetings. Check the website (or the EDHAA calendars)
for specific demonstrators, dates and times. Carol Newland will
be demonstrating mixed media and home made papers at our March 10th meeting.
All mixed media artists are encouraged to bring an example of their
art to share before the demonstration.
Sandy Allie (Membership) has been working very hard getting
the membership information up-dated so she can publish the new roster for 2010.
It’s always nice to have the member’s names, phone numbers and
email addresses for everyone’s convenience. If you haven’t sent
in your membership dues yet, you need to contact Sandy ASAP!
Gwen Flores (Treasurer) has been busy setting up a bus trip
to San Francisco to the DeYoung Museum Exhibit, Thursday, June 3 from
8am-5pm. It will be so much fun to share a day with each other; visiting and
getting acquainted on the roundtrip bus ride to the museum and enjoying the
magnificent art when we arrive. Reserve your seat quick and invite your “art
loving friends” to join you. Make your reservation before the April 30
deadline! The cost is $42 dollars each, which covers the bus ride, museum tour
entrance fee, snacks and beverages.
Maria Santana (Scholarships) still has EDHAA
calendars for sale. They make a wonderful gift for friends and
family. Maria also brought us into the future by starting a Twitter
account for EDHAA members. Check it out!
Judy Arrigotti (Studio
Tour) I’ve given
the Printer the “go-ahead” to print 10,000 Studio Tour
brochures after completing the second round of proofreading. We’ll
be distributing them to the artists at the potluck on April
17th from 1pm to 4pm at Crista Dixon’s house.
Jane Lober (Membership Show) has already secured
a date and location for the EDHAA Membership Show. The art will
be displayed in the Hang It Up Gallery between August 27th
and September 12th. Town Center will host a charity event
with antique cars and dogs on the Membership Show weekend, so consider
creating art that will appeal to car and pet enthusiasts.
EDHAA Guest Speaker for March
2010
Carol Newland will be demonstrating on March
10th mixed media & handmade papers. I'll be working with handmade
paper and mixed media and will give a brief introduction to making
paper. It is something fun for everyone to try at home.
