EDHAA Presidents
Message for September 2010
Hi Everyone,
We had a great meeting in August. Those who attended were anxious
to hear what the guest speakers had to say about How to Sell
Art in a struggling economy. Dave Williams, from Hang It Up
Gallery shared his “first hand” knowledge of selling
art in traditional galleries and art fairs. Dave is an active supporter
of the arts in El Dorado County as a gallery owner, Art Affaire
organizer and El Dorado County Arts Council board member. Our Vice
President, Bill Monaghan shared his experience as an artist in
a co-op gallery and as an active artist on the Art Show circuit.
Their presentations were so well received that, by popular demand, Dave and Bill
have agreed to return to continue the discussion on “Selling Your Art”,
at the November meeting.
Aug.27-Sept.12- Membership Show:
Jane Lober and her committee did a wonderful job of organizing
the 2010 Membership Show. Gayle Rapport-Weiland judged the show

be proud of!

September’s Guest Speaker:
Susan Sarback, artist, author, and art instructor
founded the School of Light and Color,
in Fair Oaks, CA, in 1986.
At an early age Susan began her formal study, it culminated in
a Bachelors and Masters degree in Fine Art. After years of studying
both abstract painting and representational art, she was still
searching for a deeper understanding about light and color. She
discovered Henry Hensche, an American Impressionist painter in
the lineage of Charles Hawthorne, William Merrit Chase, and Claude
Monet. After years of in-depth study with this master painter,
she began to uncover the deep secrets about light and color that
she had searched for throughout her life.
Trained in the lineage of the Impressionist painters, she has
taught artists from all over the world how to enliven their work
by seeing and painting with a broader understanding of light and
color.

Post Impressionist Tour: PART
II, October 21st, 2010
The response to the June 3rd Birth of Impressionism Tour was incredible! We
filled two buses!!!! Most who went indicated
a desire to see the Post Impressionist exhibit, so we scheduled
a tour for that exhibit on October 21st. Don’t miss
this opportunity to see the works of famous artists, without going
to Paris!! This tour is open to anyone who loves art,
so come join us.
Paris’ Musee d’Orsay has shipped some of their art

Young is showing two exhibitions: The Birth of Impressionism
featuring such artists as Monet, Manet, Renoir, Degas and Whistler. The
second exhibit is Post Impressionist Masterpieces featuring Van
