The current Atrium Gallery EDH exhibit, "Botanical Brushstrokes," features work by Lori Anderson, M. Cates, Diana Erickson, Rebecca Guinn, Leslie Hoffman, Carol Kyle, Kenneth Mahar, Sally Marshall, Michael Pasqua, and Jamie Robinson. The showcase will be open from May 18 to July 19, 2026.
All are welcome to meet the ten featured artists during a champagne reception, on Saturday, May 23 from 5:00-7:30pm. Refreshments and live music will be provided at this free event. Please join us in celebrating with these accomplished artists at the Atrium Gallery EDH.
Guests are also encouraged to join the fun by dressing in spring floral attire!

I enjoy painting many different subjects including florals, animals, landscapes and many things in between. I use my own photos of flowers and landscapes as a starting point. I look for the subtle colors and intensify them on canvas. I think this allows me to achieve a more expressionistic look that I admire.
Many times something will just catch my eye and the first thing I think of is “I want to paint that!” My inspirations come from everywhere. I’m not trying to paint a perfect copy of a photo; I’m trying to paint how it felt to be there. My ceramic sculptures allow me to bring my same love of color into 3D, but with an added sense of fun. I enjoy painting icons like Frida Kahlo, Vincent Van Gogh and Ruth Bader Ginsburg with expressive faces. I also enjoy sculpting animals with expressive faces and personality. Life can be serious, but my art doesn’t have to be. I want my sculptures to be something people can enjoy a bit of humor and the simple joy of a character looking back at them. |

Inside our relationships with our pets is a fundamental mystery: what is the nature of their inner worlds? Their lives are odd ones, designed by us, far removed from their ancestors who lived in the wild. Suburban gardens are odder still, made of paved-over earth, water flowing through tubes, and plants plucked from their natural environment and arranged in living collections. This is where many of our pets, themselves honed by people over thousands of years, lounge and prowl. By approaching their perspectives with joyful curiosity, my current series of paintings dances with the question of our pets’ inner experiences and our role in them. Raised in the suburbs of El Dorado Hills, my life was disrupted suddenly by chronic illness in my early 20’s. The world became as small as my parents’ home and lovely garden; my primary companion became my cat, Sagwa. While I couldn’t explore outward into the world during that time, I could explore inward and through art, unpeel layers from my daily life until the mundane became magical. |

Most of my work is inspired by nature - landscapes, ocean scenes, plants and animals. Living in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada in California provides many opportunities for spending time outdoors in the oak dotted landscape, at the American River, and up in the mountains. I also love to travel, and trips to Alaska, Guatemala and Italy have provided additional inspiration. Spending time in new places provides opportunities to relate to those settings in a very intimate way. In my painting, I may be inspired by light on the petals of a flower, the pattern of branches or reflections, a sense of place, such as a mountain meadow, or the details and atmosphere of a setting. I am also intrigued by the intersection of people with their environment. Most of the jewelry I make is a reflection of natural forms as well, such as plants, animals, flowers, or scenery. As an artist, I am always studying the details of my surroundings - the shapes, how the colors blend, and how light creates the mood. For me, the process of creating art is a process of relating to my environment, capturing that experience, and passing it along to the viewer so that they may experience a bit of it as well. It is the love and passion of designing and handcrafting pieces that brings joy to both the artist and the observer. |

I paint to reveal the quiet power of ordinary landscapes — the way light transforms a hillside, a stream, or an orchard into something transcendent. My work is rooted in close observation but shaped by emotion and memory. Each painting begins with a moment of stillness — the hush of dawn, the soft shift of color before evening — and becomes a meditation on presence and change. Using pastel over gouache underpainting or layered acrylics, I build images that hover between realism and expression. The interplay of texture and light guides the composition, suggesting both what is seen and what is felt. I am drawn to subjects that speak of endurance — old oaks, resilient fields, the trace of water after rain — symbols of renewal within time’s passage. Through these paintings I hope to invite viewers into that same sense of quiet recognition — a pause to notice how beauty endures, even in the most familiar places. |

I am a contemporary impressionist artist who paints colorful florals, landscapes, and many enchanting aspects of the natural world, including mushrooms, birds, and butterflies. Using bold brushstrokes and vibrant color, I strive to capture the feeling of joy that nature brings me. I have a deep love for celebrating the seasons, often creating work that reflects seasonal changes, from bunnies and tulips in spring, to pumpkins and mums in fall, and cozy mugs of hot cocoa alongside evergreens and pinecones in winter. My subjects are chosen for the joyful emotions they evoke within me. I am consistently drawn to flowers, whether thriving in lush gardens and wildflower meadows, or simply arranged in mason jars. Scenes that celebrate the changing seasons consistently inspire my creativity. What captivates me most in a scene is its ability to tell a story and highlight everyday life. I am particularly attracted to images that offer a dynamic interplay of light and shadow, contrasting colors, and intriguing textures. As a self-proclaimed recovering perfectionist, I strive to be expressive and loose in my work, painting quickly to capture the feel of a subject, without getting weighed down in too much detail. I hope to give the viewer enough information to evoke the feelings I'm trying to convey without creating an exact replica of an image. Painting in acrylics on cradled wood panels contributes to my desire to work quickly. The smooth wood allows my brush to glide effortlessly over the surface, while loosely laying down layers of paint, building up the opacity and depth of color needed to match the vibrancy of my subjects. Through this combination of inspiration, subject matter and technique, I aim to create heartfelt works that celebrate the seasons and communicate the joy and wonder found in the natural world. |

The botanical encaustic artwork shown at the Atrium Gallery in El Dorado Hills is inspired by my love of what nature produces in a variety of forms and colors. My work is abstract and loose. The smooth soft surface texture of the encaustic wax medium enhances the softness of the botanicals. Encaustics is an ancient art form, which produces layers upon layers of wax. Each layer is carefully infused with a torch to "fix" and adhere all layers together. It brings me joy to share my Encaustic art , which I've learned in the last year from one of the best encaustic teachers in the country. |

Photography is a powerful medium that allows me to freeze moments in time, transforming ephemeral experiences into lasting visual stories. Whether I am capturing the majestic presence of wildlife like buffalo or the intricate beauty of a bee, each photograph serves as a window into a unique perspective. Through my lens, I can reveal the overlooked details of the world, encouraging viewers to engage with the textures and colors present in everyday scenes. The art of photography not only enables me to share my individual experiences but also invites others to explore and interpret these captured moments through their own eyes. I see abstract patterns and designs in everything in nature. I value linear lines in buildings and architecture. I create whimsy through illusion. I design my pieces based on the emotion it generates and the inspiration I receive. I want to bring the beauty and surprises of the world to everyone. I see things that many have not thought of, or had the opportunity to view in person, which I strongly believe helps to broaden everyone’s perspective of the vast world we inhabit. I believe the more you travel, the more you open your mind to endless possibilities. I believe art is for enjoying and experiencing, not just for displaying to fill in a space on a wall or a shelf. |

I am originally from England where I obtained a degree in Art and Design. My medium is Acrylic on canvas using bright colors to emphasize character and style. Wildlife and nature are my inspiration through travels around the world. With the animals I paint it’s the expression on their face and the glint in their eyes that brings them to life. I have had my art exhibited at The Harris Center, 48 Natoma in Folsom and Teaspoon Gallery, the Cameron Park Library, and Atrium Gallery in El Dorado Hills. I am an active member of the El Dorado Arts Association, participating in the Fine Arts Festival, Assistance Garden Tour, EDH Farmers Market and Folsom Spring and Christmas Craft Fairs. |

Warned by my father about a world full of starving artists, I opted for a career in computer engineering, rather than pursuing my dream of becoming a photographer. While I don't regret that choice, and the travel and adventures that came with it, I eventually found a way to merge my passion for art with my technical background. Lacking the skills needed to draw and work with physical media, and envying those so blessed, I do understand how to ‘command’ my computer, and use an electronic ‘brush’ to enhance the photographs I take, simulating the appearance of oil paintings, water colors, and pencil sketches. My process and images have evolved significantly over the past twenty years, as the tools and techniques have evolved. At first the challenge was just getting my photographs onto the computer. Now it’s a challenge is which of the many versions of a single image is worthy to be printed on physical media. There is no deep or mystical message in my work, just an enjoyment of the process and the images that are created. |

My work explores the intersection of design and fine art through digital illustration, painting, and public art. I create bold, graphic compositions that combine clean vector linework with expressive, hand-painted elements. Much of my work is rooted in visual storytelling, using character, color, and composition to create imagery that is both approachable and engaging. Whether working on a small-scale piece or a large public installation, I aim to create art that connects with a wide audience and feels integrated within its environment. The ideas in my work often center on themes of community, place, and shared experience. I am drawn to creating imagery that reflects both the natural landscape and the people who interact with it, particularly in Northern California and the Sierra Nevada region. Public art plays a significant role in my practice, allowing me to contribute to spaces that are part of everyday life. I’m interested in how art can create a sense of identity, spark recognition, and bring a sense of cohesion to a community through accessible, visually compelling design. I am inspired by the landscapes I grew up around and continue to live in, including the forests, trails, and mountain environments of the Sierra. Early experiences with hiking, outdoor recreation, and community events shaped how I see the world and continue to influence my work. My background in both fine art and graphic design informs my approach, allowing me to balance structure with creativity. Through my work, I aim to reflect a sense of place and connection, creating pieces that resonate with both personal experience and a broader audience. |

The 2026 schedule of shows at the Atrium Gallery EDH will alternate between Themed Shows and Open Shows, and includes larger membership exhibitions and semi-solo exhibitions. All current EDHAA members are encouraged to apply to any or all shows. Each exhibit will have specific dates which roll out about 2 months prior to the start of each exhibit. A panel of impartial judges will select the artwork in a blind evaluation process based on merit, application of the theme, and other attributes that would complement the show. Original artwork and giclee prints will be accepted. Look at the entire 2026 year of opportunities and plan to show your artwork in the exhibit that’s right for you!
