The El Dorado Hills Arts Association warmly welcomes professor and artist, Marisa Sayago, to the November general meeting demonstration. This demonstration will introduce members to basic Gelli Plate printing techniques, including layering, texture, masking, and mark-making. Sayago will demonstrate how to transfer charcoal drawings onto a Gelli Plate to create expressive, one-of-a-kind monotypes, including reversed imagery, ghost prints, and layered impressions.
The demonstration will emphasize using the Gelli Plate as an extension of the drawing process, encouraging experimentation, and discovery. |
Marisa Sayago is an Argentine-American sculptor and artist with over three decades of experience. She received her MFA from the University of North Texas and apprenticed under Argentine sculptor Alfredo Cantarutti, developing a strong foundation in figurative sculpture and anatomy. She has taught art at Folsom Lake College since 1999.
Working primarily in clay, Sayago uses the human figure to explore emotional states, relationships, vulnerability, and the human condition, often exaggerating or distorting form to convey psychological depth. Her work has been exhibited nationally and internationally and is held in public and private collections in the United States, South America, and Europe, including the Museum of Latin American Art in Long Beach.
More of her work can be viewed at sayagoart.com.
The El Dorado Hills Arts Association hopes you can join us for this wonderful evening that helps expand your artistic and creative vision.
