I have spent the past 20+ years working with bee’s wax in either a hot mixture with resin called encaustic or in a cold wax and oil combination. With either medium, the work is always completed on cradled wood panels. Over the years I’ve had the wonderful opportunity to study under some very fine art instructors including Sara Post, Sue Stover and Lisa Pressman. For the past dozen years I’ve enjoyed teaching encaustic in private sessions and group workshops at galleries like, Sacramento Fine Arts (Carmichael), Blue Line Gallery (Roseville), Elk Grove Fine Arts Center and the Crocker Art Museum. Between the ages of three to eleven I experienced physical abuse and while today I feel like a quite normal, well-adjusted adult, those past incidents can’t help but shape me and the work that I create. My hope is that my artwork will be viewed as joyful and joy-filled. The art is generally abstract or non-objective, often with unusual shapes, lively texture and a playful mix of other media. I believe that there is a strong overall childlike quality that makes the work recognizable with inspiration coming from recent topics, artistic influences, and sometimes from completely mundane experiences. Along with constantly viewing art at various venues, I feel that my faith and years of art practice have rescued me in many ways. It certainly motivates me to continue improving my skill and moving forward with great joy! |

Color is what drives my painting. People have said I have a good use of color. I layer and blend colors to get a pleasing composition with rhythm, balance and energy, where colors play together in harmony. I like to start a painting and just see where it moves me. I enjoy oil painting in a variety of styles, primarily impressionist and abstract. My goal is to give people a feeling of love, spirit, peace or energy. Though I want my paintings to look “correct”, it’s not all about following rules or being overly realistic; more about conveying a feeling, an emotion, a sigh, a smile, a memory. My inspiration comes from the beauty of nature, sunsets, the sea, and space. My goal in painting is to do something of value; to help people, so this year 100% of all proceeds will be donated to local food banks |

Photography is a powerful medium that allows me to freeze moments in time, transforming ephemeral experiences into lasting visual stories. Whether I am capturing the majestic presence of wildlife like buffalo or the intricate beauty of a bee, each photograph serves as a window into photography and each photograph serves as a window into a unique perspective. Through my lens, I can reveal the overlooked details of the world, encouraging viewers to engage with the textures and colors present in everyday scenes. The art of photography not only enables me to share my individual experiences but also invites others to explore and interpret these captured moments through their own eyes. I see abstract patterns and designs in everything in nature. I value linear lines in buildings and architecture. I create whimsy through illusion. I design my pieces based on the emotion it generates and the inspiration I receive. I want to bring the beauty and surprises of the world to everyone. I see things that many have not thought of, or had the opportunity to view in person, which I strongly believe helps to broaden everyone’s perspective of the vast world we inhabit. I believe the more you travel, the more you open your mind to endless possibilities. I believe art is for enjoying and experiencing, not just for displaying to fill in a space on a wall or a shelf. |
