Gerry Litwin Portraiture - Hands-on/ attendee participation According to Gerry, "My art journey began late in life as a result of my desire to have special grandma time with my then 7-year-old granddaughter. Through that time of taking art classes with her I discovered the wonderful world of oil painting and the amazing art community in El Dorado and Sacramento counties. That love continued to expand as I studied for over five years with local artist Joyce Martin and continuing now with a variety of on-line and in person course work. The inspiration for my art is the story being told, be it a landscape, still life or a portrait. In the fall of 2024 I decided I wanted to be more serious in my study and focus on portraiture. I am also starting to expand in my choice of medium to include pan pastel, cold wax and oil, encaustic medium, and graphite and charcoal drawing. For sure a newbie at these media." n November 18, Gerry will present an interactive demonstration on proportions of the features of the head. Attendees will be drawing along with her the proportional features of a frontal view of an adult head.
Please bring a pencil, eraser, straight edge (ruler, triangle or ever a letter size envelop) and a drawing pad 9 x 12 or larger. If paper is too small you may not have room to see what is happening. Additionally, we will be moving the Holiday Maker’s Market to November 15th to act as a catalyst event to switch to Saturdays. As with all change, we know this will take time. We will continue to invest marketing dollars to promote the market and ensure strong visibility and attendance for all of our vendors. THE PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE
Judy Arrigotti
Hello Members,
Hello Members,
WOW! It’s been an incredible month for EDHAA’s members, Board members and committee chairs. Together, we’ve managed to provide amazing opportunities for our members to display and sell their art and for our community to see, appreciate and purchase art from local artists. Everyone wins!
Currently, It’s possible for members to have their art on display in Town Center at the Teaspoon shop, at the Atrium Gallery and at the Sunday Market. On October 18th, 53 artists showcased their art at the annual Fine Arts Festival.
These events wouldn’t be possible without the dedication of our EDHAA volunteers. We owe our THANKS to our committee chairs for organizing the artists and monitoring the displays: Ken Mahar & Bob Anderson for hanging, Oranne Eichorn -chair for Teaspoon, Cindy Abraham (Chair) , Karen Cogan & Ken Mahar- Atrium Gallery; Sally Marshall- Chair for Sunday Market; Bob & Melissa- Fine Arts Festival; Linda Smith, Spike Mills- Studio Tour, Annie O’Connell- Studio Tour Preview, Membership Show. Thanks to Nina Watkins for making the Town Center events possible.
The EDHAA Board is the backbone of the organization and we meet monthly to coordinate all the meetings, shows and events . Without their devotion, we couldn’t accomplish all that we do! Thanks for all that you do!
Vice President- Chris Hedges organizes the monthly demonstrations and supports me in every way!
Secretary- Lauren Klonaris keeps records of all our board meetings and she’s collecting and organizing artists' bios & statements.
Treasurer- Bob Anderson keeps records of EDHAA finances and has assisted other board members as needed.
Newsletter/Website- Diana Erickson maintains the EDHAA newsletter & website. Reports EDHAA news and events to members in the monthly newsletter.
Membership- Pat Keever tracks and reports EDHAA membership and is a greeter at monthly meetings.
Social Media- Terrie Bennett posts EDHAA activities & events on line.
Scholarships- Melissa Keyser works with Folsom Lake College to interview and select candidates for the EDHAA scholarships.
Paint Outs and Field Trips - Karen Cogan coordinates opportunities for plein-air painting for our members.
It’s time for us to find our 2026 Board members, committee chairs & committee members. Please join us as an active EDHAA volunteer. Currently we have 140 members. I urge you to volunteer as an active officer, chairperson or committee member. It takes time and commitment, but it also has great rewards.
I am incredibly proud to be president of this association. I’ve been a member for over 20 years. I’ve served as president, vice president and Studio Tour Chairperson. Every position I’ve held required time and energy, but the rewards have always been worth the commitment. Contact me if you’re interested in any of these positions.
